Lakeville Police Charge Man in Connection with Fatal Crash

LAKEVILLE — Chief Matthew Perkins and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office report that the Lakeville Police Department arrested and charged a Lakeville man in connection with a fatal crash on Main Street on Friday night.

DAVID DELORENZO, AGE 73, OF LAKEVILLE, was arrested and charged with:

  • Motor Vehicle Homicide
  • Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
  • Operating Under the Influence of Liquor Causing Serious Bodily Injury
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Speeding
  • Marked Lanes Violation

On Friday, Jan. 19, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Lakeville Police were called to Main Street in the area of Elliot Farm for a report of a crash.

Officers arrived to discover a four-vehicle crash involving a Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Camry, Audi S4, and Chevrolet Silverado.

A passenger in the Camry, Richard Reed, age 75, of Lakeville, was declared dead at the scene. The Camry’s driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

DELORENZO, identified as the driver of the Santa Fe, was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, and then charged upon his release from the hospital.

The driver of the Audi was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford for treatment of their injuries. The driver of Chevrolet Silverado was treated at the scene.

DELORENZO is being held on $10,000 cash bail over the weekend, and will be arraigned Monday in Wareham District Court.

Lakeville Police are investigating the crash with assistance from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.

Chief Matthew Perkins reports that the Lakeville Police Department is investigating a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a trash truck that injured three people.

On Thursday, May 25, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Lakeville Police were notified by 911 call of a two-vehicle crash on Bedford Street in the area of Crooked Lane.

Officers responded and found two injured parties in a trash truck that had collided with a passenger vehicle, and an injured driver in the passenger vehicle.

The Lakeville Fire Department had to free one of the drivers, who was trapped in their vehicle for almost an hour.

The driver of the trash truck was taken by air ambulance to Rhode Island Trauma Center, while the driver of the passenger vehicle and a passenger in the trash truck were both taken by ambulance to local hospitals.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lakeville Police Department, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.

On Saturday, July 30, at approximately 6:37 a.m., Lakeville Police and Fire responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street.

Two individuals involved in the crash were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. One of those individuals was later pronounced deceased.

Main Street was closed at the intersection for about four hours during the preliminary investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by Lakeville Police, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.

The Lakeville Police Department reports that the intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street has been reopened.

On Saturday, July 30, at approximately 6:37 a.m., Lakeville Police and Fire responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street. Two individuals were transported to hospitals with injuries.

The intersection was closed for about four hours, but was reopened about 10:30 a.m.

On Saturday, July 30, at approximately 6:37 a.m., Lakeville Police and Fire responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street. Two individuals were transported to hospitals with injuries.

The intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street has been closed while investigators work at the scene, and it is expected to remain closed for an hour or more.

Lakeville Police will post an update once the intersection has been reopened to traffic.
