Lakeville Police Investigating Crash Involving Motorcycle on Route 44

LAKEVILLE — Chief Matthew Perkins reports that the Lakeville Police Department is investigating a motorcycle crash that occurred on Route 44 Monday afternoon.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Lakeville Police and Fire were dispatched to the area of 13 Harding St. (Route 44) for a crash between a motorcycle and another vehicle.

Upon arrival, first responders located the male operator of the motorcycle suffering from life-threatening injuries. The man was treated by paramedics on scene before being transported to Rhode Island Hospital via medical helicopter.

The female operator of the other vehicle did not report injuries.

Route 44 in the immediate area of the crash is currently partially closed. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area for the time being while investigators remain on scene, or expect delays.

The crash remains under investigation by Lakeville Police with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Prevention and Control (CPAC) unit.

The Lakeville Police Department reports that the intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street has been reopened.

On Saturday, July 30, at approximately 6:37 a.m., Lakeville Police and Fire responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street. Two individuals were transported to hospitals with injuries.

The intersection was closed for about four hours, but was reopened about 10:30 a.m.

The Lakeville Police Department is asking motorists to avoid the area of Main and Bridge streets due to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection.

On Saturday, July 30, at approximately 6:37 a.m., Lakeville Police and Fire responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street. Two individuals were transported to hospitals with injuries.

The intersection of Main Street and Bridge Street has been closed while investigators work at the scene, and it is expected to remain closed for an hour or more.

Lakeville Police will post an update once the intersection has been reopened to traffic.

Lakeville Police Provide Update on Nor’easter Response, Road Closures Throughout Town

LAKEVILLE – Police Chief Matthew Perkins reports that the Lakeville Police Department is actively responding to calls for service during the Nor’easter and that numerous roads are closed throughout town.

The Lakeville Department of Public Works, emergency personnel, and utility crews are working to restore power and clear downed trees and power lines from roadways across town.

Lakeville Police strongly encourage residents to refrain from non-essential travel due to dangerous road conditions caused by downed trees and wires. Residents are advised to avoid the following roadways due to obstructions, and to seek alternative routes:

  • Highland Road
  • Bedford Street
  • Pierce Avenue
  • County Road
  • Clear Pond Road
  • Old Powder House Road
  • Crooked Lane

Residents are asked to call 9-1-1 to report any downed wires to Lakeville Police. Residents should stay away from all downed power lines and never go near or touch them for any reason; assume a downed line is live.

Residents should report power outages to their utility company. Do not call 9-1-1 to report an outage or to ask about power restoration.
